BANGOR – Mary J. DeRoche, 72, died Feb. 5, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 14, 1937, in Bangor, the daughter of Angus Cameron and Mary (McCann) Cameron. After graduating from John Bapst High School, she married George DeRoche of Bangor. Several years later they moved to Brewer to raise their family. Mary loved to travel, garden and read, but her greatest love was her family. She is survived by her children, Karl DeRoche of Tampa, Fla., Mark DeRoche of Eddington, M. Angela (DeRoche) Innis and husband, James, of Bangor, Sandy DeRoche of Portland, Bridget (DeRoche) Ruffino and husband, Jeffrey, of Naples, Italy, Matthew DeRoche and wife, Brenda, of Eddington, and Meghan (DeRoche) McAvoy and husband, Ryan, of Kenduskeag; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Eleanor Spellman, Janet “Pat” Doucet-Martin, Beverly Trainor and Christine Cameron; and a brother, Ronald Cameron. Mary was predeceased by the father of her children, George DeRoche; and a grandson, Cameron DeRoche. The family expresses their deepest thanks to the staff of Westgate Manor and Beacon Hospice for the compassion, respect and care given to Mary during her stay. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Interment will be after the service at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be made to Catholic Charities of Maine, P.O. Box 11559, Portland, ME 04104.
