LITTLE DEER ISLE – Carroll Lee Dodge Sr., 71, died Feb. 5, 2010, at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1938, in Lowell, Mass., the son of Carroll Llewellyn and Florence (Harmer) Dodge. Carroll attended schools in Lowell, Mass. He worked as an asbestos worker for Local No. 6 for 29 years. He loved gardening and driving his John Deere tractor. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Lowell, Mass. Carroll is survived by his wife of 45 years, Veronica of Little Deer Isle; son, Carroll Dodge Jr. of Sedgwick; his No. 2 son, Jon Henderson of Augusta; daughter, Ronda Dodge of Methuen, Mass.; brother, Richard Dodge of Dracut, Mass.; sisters, Sally Psiras of Westford, Mass., Blanche Detura of Enfield, Conn., and Dorothy Beaulieu of Pelham, N.H.; granddaughter, Despe Dodge of Sedgwick; honorary granddaughter, Genevieve Shepard; sisters-in-law, Judith “Frog” Eaton of Little Deer Isle, and Linda Closson of Brooksville; brother-in-law/son/”tow service,” Kevin Grindle of Little Deer Isle; mother-in-law, Tillie Grindle of Little Deer Isle; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Ray Dodge; and sister, May Crafts. The family thanks the staff at Ellsworth Dialysis Center, also known as “Carroll’s Harem” and best buddy, Bill – his second “home” and family for the last nine years. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Saunders Memorial Congregational Church, Little Deer Isle, with Elder Cheryl Brown officiating. Spring interment will be at Howard’s Hill, Little Deer Isle.
