Pond hockey tourney moves to Camp CaPella

BANGOR, Maine — Because skating rinks could not be constructed in time at Bass Park in Bangor, the Paul Bunyan Pond Hockey Tournament will take place Saturday, Feb. 6 at Camp CaPella on Phillips Lake in Dedham.

“We saved the day, and the Paul Bunyan Pond Hockey Tournament show will now go on at Camp CaPella,” said Dana Mosher, executive director of Camp CaPella in a press release Wednesday. “The pond hockey teams will play — including those with disabilities who skate on sleds — and we’re very happy to find a way to get this great tournament going.

“And don’t forget the polar plunge will still be held on Sunday at Camp CaPella,” Mosher added.

The Paul Bunyan Pond Hockey Tournament is being sponsored by the Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary Club with all proceeds going to Camp CaPella serving children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities.

Teams of four to six players will compete in five divisions in the tournament: the open division; 18-20 division, for young hockey teams; 40-plus division; 50-plus division; women’s division. Questions may be directed to Ryan McPike at 848-3796 or e-mailed to info@pbpondhockey.com.
