SLANESVILLE, W.Va. – Rita M. Wardwell, 82, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va. Mrs. Wardwell was born Oct. 23, 1927, in Caribou, a daughter of the late Edward and Agnes Raymond Dubay. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Wardwell was married to Erben C. Wardwell, Nov. 22, 1947, in Caribou. Surviving with her husband of 62 years, are two sons, Duane E. Wardwell and fiancee, Misty, of Slanesville, W.Va., and Douglas E. Wardwell and wife, Barbara, of New Britian, Conn.; two daughters, Diane Audet and husband, Guy, of Bristol, Conn., and Doreen Warner of Old Orchard Beach; one brother, Louis Dubay of Rocky Hill, Conn.; one sister, Linda Folts of Southington, Conn.; three grandchildren, Andrew Warner, Scott and Holly Audet; and two great-grandchildren, Kasia Warner and Garrett Doll. A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Giffin Funeral Home, Capon Bridge, W.Va., with the Rev. Gregory R. Kenney officiating. Private inurnment to be at a later date.
