ALTON – Merle T. Willette, 77, died Feb. 2, 2010, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Old Town, the son of Jules and Marjorie (Perry) Willette. Merle was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the U.S. Navy. He retired after 44 years of service at PCF – Georgia-Pacific mill in Great Works. He was a lifetime member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Eagles Club, Brewer. Merle will be remembered as a man of many talents. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Webster) Willette of Alton; four sons, Mark Willette and his wife, Linda, of Orneville, Dale Willette of Alton, Scott Willette and his companion, Karen Norsworthy, of Charleston, and Danny Willette and his wife, Dawna, of Milford; eight grandchildren, Lynn, Danielle, Dale Jr., Matthew, Sarah, Travis, Brittney and Austin; three great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Hannah and Kaden; sisters, Delores Cross of Brewer, Evelyn Desmond and her husband, David, of Bath, Theresa Viola of Walpole, Mass., Charlene Brooks of Clifton, and Lois Hogan and her husband, Bill, of Veazie; a brother, Edward Ouellette and his wife, Gloria, of Old Town; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, Gary Andrew Willette; and a brother Richard Willette. The family wishes to thank Maine Veterans Home and Hospice of St. Joseph for the wonderful and compassionate care shown to Merle during the last days. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church of the Resurrection of the Lord, Old Town. Immediately after the service, all are invited to the parish hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship. Spring interment will be at Alton Cemetery. <>
