VEAZIE – Evelyn McPhee, formerly of Veazie – her home of 50 years, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Sonogee Estates, Bar Harbor. Evelyn was a private person, a great lover of books, and was an avid reader all her life. She loved nature, especially the birds. True joy was evident in her gardens and her knowledge of flowers. Evelyn was a World War II Navy veteran. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul McPhee. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Simpson and Stuart Williamson of Somesville; son, Michael McPhee and his wife, Nancy, of Framingham, Mass.; grandchildren, Paul Simpson and his wife, Anne, of Bar Harbor and Dianna Moran and her husband, Bob, of Bar Harbor; and a great-grandson, Zachary, currently in the U.S. Navy. Evelyn will be missed by her family and friends, old and new. Special in her heart were Bear, Harley, Leila, Mr. Sirus and Lucky Girl, who could always find a treat from Grama Evelyn. The family expresses many thanks to Dr. Ron, Chris and the staff at Sonogee for their care and support. In accordance with Evelyn’s wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be in the spring at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie. Those who wish to donate in her memory may do so to Jessup Memorial Library, Bar Harbor or the Humane Society.
