Should the D.C. gun ruling be expanded?

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a gun ban in Washington D.C. was unconsitu-tional. Maine’s attorney general, along with Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins and Rep. Mike Michaud, are among other state and federal officials calling for the court to extend its ruling to state and municipal jurisdictions, which would effectively establish individual right to gun ownership. Should the ruling be extended? Should the attorney general and three of Maine’s four congressional representatives be making such a request? How likely is the court to extend its precedent-setting ruling? Should it?
