Trenton man pleads guilty in pot case

ELLSWORTH, Maine — A Trenton man has pleaded guilty to trafficking in marijuana and has been sentenced to two years’ probation.

Royal Lee Colby, 49, also agreed Monday to forfeit $1,044 that police seized in his home on Bayside Road when they charged him June 4 with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. According to documents filed in Hancock County Superior Court, Colby had more than a pound of marijuana in his home when it was searched by police.

On Monday, Justice Kevin Cuddy gave Colby, who has medical issues, an overall sentence of 10 months behind bars, all of it suspended. He also ordered Colby to pay a $400 fine and to pay $640 in restitution to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, which investigated the case.
