SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — The famous Macy’s Santa is coming to Maine as part of a whirlwind nationwide tour.

The department store Santa has been a fixture since 1862 at Macy’s in New York City during the Christmas holiday season. In 1947, he was immortalized in the classic film “Miracle on 34th Street.”

The Macy’s Santa will be at Macy’s store at The Maine Mall in South Portland on Saturday. It is the first stop of a 25-day, 25-city tour that concludes Dec. 22 in Metairie, La.

Macy’s Santa promotion is part of the chain’s Believe campaign.
