Veterans with disabilities wrapping up sports camp

The Associated Press

WINSLOW, Maine — Nineteen veterans and active duty personnel suffering from disabilities are wrapping up a weekend at a fishing and sports camp in Maine.

Veterans and service men and women participated in activities including fly-fishing, golf, cycling, martial arts, shooting and climbing at Camp Caribou in Winslow. They came from as far away as California, Washington, Texas, Illinois, Virginia and New York.

Veterans/No Boundaries is a program of Maine Handicapped Skiing, the state’s largest adaptive recreation program for children and adults with physical disabilities.

Many, but not all, of the participants were wounded in action.

Air fare was provided by Bath Iron Works, the Wounded Warriors Project and Disabled Sports/USA.
