BANGOR, Maine — The chancellor of the University of Maine System will present a report related to the New Challenges, New Directions Initiative during Monday’s board of trustees meeting at the UMS offices.
Chancellor Richard L. Pattenaude will present the proposed multiyear plan, “Adding Value Through Educational Opportunity and Economic Development” which will outline recommendations for stabilizing the system’s finances and providing strategic direction for its seven campuses.
The system is facing an estimated $42.8 million shortfall in the next three years.
Pattenaude will make the presentation during the 11 a.m. Committee of the Whole meeting.
Other items on the board’s agenda include a discussion of the Taxpayer Bill of Rights II, or TABOR II, ballot measure up for statewide vote in November, and appointments for approval.
