Three cruise ships arriving in Portland

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — More than 4,400 cruise ship passengers will pass through Portland in the next week with the arrival of three cruise ships.

Port officials say the Maasdam, a 720-foot Holland America Line ship, was scheduled to arrive Sunday with more than 1,250 passengers for a full-day stop.

On Sunday night, the small ship American Glory was to arrive with 50 passengers as part of its 11-day sail along the Northeast coast.

Next Saturday, the Royal Caribbean ship Explorer of the Seas will make the first of four visits to Portland. The ship will carry 3,114 passengers. That’s more than any other ship calling to port this year.
