BANGOR, Maine — The 2009 Northeastern Forest Products Equipment Expo, which runs all day today and Saturday at the Bangor Civic Center and its parking lot, is expected to draw thousands of loggers, mill operators and truckers to the area.

The trade show, one of the largest of its kind, is a chance for those in the logging industry to network and introduce new equipment to attendees.

“The 2009 Expo … is an improved version of the show held at the same location in 2007,” the northernlogger.com Web site states. “Officials say they expect a record number of exhibiting companies and qualified attendees” at the show.

The annual event alternates from year to year between Bangor and Essex Junction, Vt., and is sponsored by the Northeastern Loggers’ Association and Northern Logger & Timber Processor magazine.

About 200 exhibitors from all over the country will be displaying equipment, offering demonstrations and showing visitors what’s new in the field.

Exhibitions are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Other seminars dealing with trucking and logging safety, planning and analysis for forest businesses, and calculating biomass amounts also will be held during the trade show.

Admission is free to those who preregistered, and $7 at the door.
