BANGOR, Maine — Megan Richard had two doubles and four RBIs to power Husson University to a 9-5 win in the first game of Wednesday’s softball doubleheader at Boucher Field, but Kelly McManus had a triple, two singles and three RBIs to lead Bates to an 8-4 victory in the second game.
In the first game, Sarah Risser of Brewer had two singles for Husson’s Eagles. Nicole Sargent picked up the win.
Leah Citrin had two singles and three RBIs for the Bobcats. McManus had a solo home run and a single while Stacia Saniuk added a double and a single.
In the second game, Saniuk had three more hits (one double, two singles) and Karen Ullmann added two singles for Bates. Kristen Finn earned the victory.
Rachel Voicechovski had a double and a single with two RBIs for the Eagles.

MMA falls in NAC semifinals
At Newton, Mass., Brett Conley scored five goals and one assist as Mount Ida defeated Maine Maritime Academy of Castine 13-5 in a North Atlantic Conference semifinal.
Mount Ida (12-6) advances to the conference championship game for the sixth straight year, while MMA finishes its season with a 9-3 overall record, 7-3 in conference play.
MMA took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Garrett Lake, assisted by Christopher Keiley, and later led 3-1 on goals by Keiley and Richard McKee.
But Mount Ida scored seven unanswered goals to take an 8-3 halftime lead.
Brian Corain scored twice in the third quarter to keep Maine Maritime within 9-5 entering the final period, but Mount Ida scored four straight goals to put the match away.
Phil McNerney and Nick Lund added assists for Maine Maritime, while goalie Daniel Redmond made 22 saves.
Craig Prophete added two goals for Mount Ida, while goalie Justin Famiglietti made 11 saves for the Mustangs.
