DOVER-FOXCROFT – Philip E. Warren, 85, husband of the late Marjorie (Severance) Warren, died April 28, 2009, at a local nursing home. He was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Albert W. and Ada (Ayer) Warren. He was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1942, and attended Bentley College. Phil had worked for King Arrow Pine and then for Prouty Ford for many years. He was treasurer and clerk for the town of Dover-Foxcroft and later served as treasurer for Piscataquis County. He was a former member and treasurer for the board of trustees of Foxcroft Academy. Phil was a member of Piscataquis Country Club, where he had served as treasurer; the Masons and the Shrine. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed following the New York Yankees and Boston Celtics. He is survived by a son, John A. and his wife, Lindy, of Dover-Foxcroft; a daughter, Lynette Rayfield and her husband, William, of Goffstown, N.H.; a brother, Virgil of Dover-Foxcroft and Englewood, Fla.; three grandchildren, William Rayfield and his wife, Audra, of Dover-Foxcroft, Leigh-Ayer Billing and her husband, James, of North Berwick, and Rebecca Gaw and her husband, Brian, of Dover-Foxcroft; four great-grandchildren, Ava and Wyatt Rayfield of Dover-Foxcroft, Michael Billing of North Berwick, and Brady Gaw of Dover-Foxcroft; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Lanpher. Friends are invited to call 3 p.m. until time of the funeral service 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.
