NORTH YARMOUTH – Norma G. Soucie, 72, of New Gloucester Road, passed away April 27, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her faith and inner strength amazed everyone who knew her during this time. She was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Old Town, a daughter of Reginald “Reggie” and Julia (Gardner) Bell. She moved to North Yarmouth at age 7 and attended North Yarmouth schools. She graduated from Greely Institute, in 1955. On Nov. 11, 1960, she married Wallace Soucie, who predeceased her in June 2007. They made their home in North Yarmouth, where they raised their three children. Norma was employed by Cape Shore as a home-worker and then worked in their office while attending college to earn her accounting degree. Due to her strong commitment to her family and loving heart, she left school to help care for her parents. It was at this time she also started her own business at home, Bookkeeping Plus, which she successfully operated for nearly 20 years. Those who walked through her office door knew that she would not only treat them as clients, but also as friends. She had an open-door policy to accommodate the needs of her clients and would often welcome their calls and visits after hours and on weekends. Anyone who knew and spoke with Norma knew that she was a kind, generous, warm and caring person with a heart of gold. She always put others needs before her own and she had many dear friendships throughout her life. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, fishing, traveling and gardening. She will be sorely missed by all who have known her. She is survived by her two daughters, Terri Soucie and partner, Karen, of Scarborough, and Patti Robinson and husband, Eric, of North Yarmouth; and a son, Dan Soucie and his wife, Julie, of North Yarmouth. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Josh, Erica, Abby, Tanay, Teyannah, Nattie, Annie, Alex and Wyatt; cousins, nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, at Sacred Heart Church, 326 Main St., Yarmouth. Burial will be after at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yarmouth.
