HOULTON – Our mother, Ardrith McIntire, 87 years young, passed away April 25, 2009, at Madigan Estates, after a long bout with Alzheimer’s disease. Ardie was born in Monticello, one of three children to the late Arthur and Edith Folsom Briggs. She attended Ricker College, where she met and married Fred McIntire. They raised four children on the family farm in Perham; three perfect sons Larry, Tom and Chuck and one so-so daughter, Lisa. She was employed by Tater State Frozen Foods for a number of years; O’Donnells, Presque Isle; treasurer for the town of Perham; and Collins Corner Restaurant, Newport. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking, especially her beans and her pies. She loved to play cards, dance and never passed up a garage sale without slamming on the breaks. She attended Calvary Baptist Church while she resided in Newport. In addition to sons, Larry of Presque Isle, Tom and daughter-in-law, Cheryl, of Connecticut, Chuck and daughter-in-law, Nancy, of Bridgewater; and daughter, Lisa and son-in-law, Frank, of Winterport; she is survived by grandchildren, Shelly, Mellica, Charles, Misha, Holly, Kurt, Kierra, Lilani, Gemmalisa, Bobbie, Craig, Lisa, Lori, Alanna and Ethan. She also leaves one sister, Marjorie Merrill of San Diego; and one sister-in-law, Reita Briggs of Houlton. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear and beloved friends. She was predeceased by one brother, Bill. Thank you, Mum for being a very loving mother and grandmother, and for showing us how to love by the way you lived each day. The family will gather 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at Fairview Cemetery, Perham. A reception will be at Washburn Snowmobile Club. Donations may be made to Hospice of Aroostook, 2 Water St., Suite One, Houlton, ME 04730.
