ST. AGATHA – Francis J. Dubey died peacefully Jan. 20, 2009, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Caribou. He was born Sept. 27, 1921, in St. Ignatius, Mont., to George and Elise Sirous Dubey. Francis enjoyed his early years in Montana, especially the rodeo when he was 14 years old. The family moved back to St. Agatha, where he attended local schools. He served in the World War II Pacific Theater in Saipan. Shortly after his return from the war, he married his sweetheart, Ernestine Gagnon, April 22, 1946. Francis’ family moved to Caribou and Francis and Ernestine joined them. Francis found employment at Loring Air Force Base. He worked there for more than 30 years taking an early retirement so he and Ernestine could do a little traveling with her brothers. He was predeceased by three brothers, Emile, Albert and Clarence; and his sisters, Victoria Laflamme and Carmen Burby. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ernestine; daughter, Joyce Pepin and her husband, Paul; granddaughter, Andrea Chase; and his sister, Mina Thibodeau of Biddeford. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Michaud Funeral Home with Deacon Don Clavette.
