JON I. ‘BANKER’ ALLEN

SEDGWICK – Jon I. “Banker” Allen, 72, died April 25, 2009, after a brief illness at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born Sept. 9, 1936, in Blue Hill, the son of Charles K. and Ruth A. (Cummings) Allen. Jon attended Sedgwick schools, graduated from George Stevens Academy and attended the University of Maine. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a lobster and scallop fisherman and a blueberry grower. He was employed in Florida after graduation from electronics school. He later became branch manager of Bar Harbor Banking and Trust Co., Blue Hill. Jon enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling and especially spending time at “My Camp” in Township 35 with his good friends, Dale and Amy Gray. He is survived by a brother, Charles K. Allen Jr. of New York; sister, Diane A. Stewart and husband, Kenneth, of Eastbrook; special niece, Kathie Koontz of Sedgwick; niece, Susan Blanco of Oregon; and nephew, Gary Allen of New York. He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Hope Allen. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Pine Grove Cemetery, North Sedgwick, with the Rev. Jim Flye officiating.
