ALZADA ‘STELLA’ FOSTER

BANGOR – Alzada Estelle Foster, 87, wife of the late Joseph W. Foster, died April 23, 2009, at a local health care center. She was born Feb. 7, 1922, in South Penobscot, the daughter of Herbert and Louise (Betts) Wescott. Stella enjoyed quilt making and wanted her grandchildren and others to enjoy them. She loved children and will be remembered by many as “Nana.” Stella was a lifelong member of Bangor Salvation Army. Surviving are two daughters, Lorraine V. Hilton of Bangor and Shirley A. Miller of Maryland; nine grandchildren, Richard McGouldrick Sr. and his wife, Joanne, of Stetson, Lillian Elston of Louisiana, Debra Race and her husband, Richard, Michelle Jones and her husband, John, Edwin Landry and his wife, Jean, all of Maryland, Lisa and Penny of California, Brad and Teresa of Stetson; 12 great-grandchildren, Richard Jr., Crystal, Travis, Tracy, Joseph, Chelsea, Melanie, Amanda, Melissa, Jennifer, Jessica and Nathan; one sister, Elsie Eddy of Rochester, N.Y.; one special nephew, George and his wife, Sharon; and other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 27, with Capt. Josh Lyle of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
