MILLINOCKET and DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Ellen M. King, 85, passed away April 20, 2009, at a Florida assisted living facility. She was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Norwich, England, daughter of Daisy (Adams) and Frank Woodhouse. After graduation from university, Ellen served in the Royal Air Force during World War II. During this service, she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth King. He brought Ellen back to his hometown of Millinocket, where they resided until their retirement to Florida in 1982. Ellen was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at their waterfront cottage in South Harpswell. Ellen is survived by her daughter, Sandra and her husband, Mark, of Florida; son, David and his wife, Suzanne, of Maryland; son, Peter John and his wife, Marjorie, of Millinocket; and son, Michael and his wife, Kendra, of Glenburn; nine grandchildren and their families, Kevin, Karey, Natalie, Amy, Laura, Tracy, Kelly, Lorie and Bryan; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Peter John and Erika Woodhouse; nieces and nephews; and her dear friend and sister-in-law, Kathleen Walls. She was predeceased by her parents; and her beloved husband, Kenny. A graveside service and interment in Millinocket will be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
