MILLINOCKET – Sylvio J. Caron, 88, died Monday, April 20, 2009, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born June 21, 1920, in Van Buren, the son of Hubert and Nathalie (Page) Caron. Sylvio started working in 1934 as a lumberjack in the woods of Northern Maine. He was a veteran of World War II, during which time he served the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific Theatre. Sylvio worked as an auto body repairman for O.S. Gonyar, Millinocket, for many years and retired from Great Northern Paper Co. in 1988. He was a member of American Legion Francis Stinson Post No. 80, Millinocket, Disabled American Veterans’ and Marine Corps League. Sylvio is survived by his very beloved wife of 35 years, Yvonne (Deschaine) Caron; five stepchildren, Richard Cote Jr. and his wife, Diana, Robert Cote and his wife, Betty, Sharon Hamilton and her husband, Linwood, Linda Langlais, all of Millinocket and Joan Cote and Alan Gilbert of Georgia; a brother, Gerald Caron and his wife, Anna, of Millinocket; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Sylvio was predeceased by two brothers, Gilbert Caron and Raymond Caron. At Sylvio’s request, there will be no services.
