PRESQUE ISLE – Irene V. Gagnon, 88, died April 20, 2009, at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born March 12, 1921, in Winterville, the daughter of Hubain and Rose (Bennett) Thibodeau. Irene worked many years at Potato Service and Simplot, Presque Isle. She enjoyed playing cards and her passion was her grandchildren. She is survived by three sons and their wives, James and Brenda Gagnon of South Meriden, Conn., Carl and Denise Gagnon of Fort Fairfield and Robert and Penny Gagnon of Westfield; two daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and Thomas Bethart of Plant City, Fla., and Delores and Wayne Brown of Enfield, N.H.; a brother, Rosaire Thibodeau of Winterville; 12 grandchildren, Jeff Brown, Tammy Roberts, Vicki Clay, Alphy, Jerry, and Lisa Morris, Stephanie Gagnon, Wendy Keene, James Gagnon, Amelia Gagnon, Sally and Andrew Bethart; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Gagnon in 1978; and an infant son, Darrell in 1953. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Morency, celebrant.
