SOUTHWEST HARBOR -Elizabeth “Libby” T. King, 103, died April 20, 2009, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 27, 1905, in Bar Harbor, daughter of Eugene S. and Alice M. (Orr) Thurston. Libby was a second generation innkeeper and owner of Dirigo Hotel, Southwest Harbor. She was a member of Manset Union Church for more than 50 years and she belonged to Order of the Eastern Star. Libby was a member of Gleaners, the literary club, Red Cross, Busy Bee’s, Friday Club and Mount Desert Island Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, picking blueberries and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Libby is survived by two grandchildren, Leslie Lee and her husband, Charles Watson, of Southwest Harbor and Storey King and wife, Kandy, of Bass Harbor; great-grandchildren, Natasha Watson Johnson and Alyssa Watson, both of Southwest Harbor, and Madison and Ethan King, both of Bass Harbor; and a daughter-in-law, Betty King of Southwest Harbor. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanwood H. King in 1996; her son, Stanwood Leslie in 2004; and by her daughter, Marilyn Elizabeth in 1928. Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert.
