PITTSFIELD – Erma Mae Ross, 99, died peacefully, Monday, April 20, 2009, at Lincoln Home, Newcastle. She was born Aug. 13, 1909, in Dover-Foxcroft, daughter of Bert and Cora (Weymouth) Hussey. She graduated from Milo High School, married Stuart Ross and together they raised their five children. They resided in Pittsfield from 1948 to 2007. Erma was a wonderful homemaker and a terrific cook. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and had a special love for God and read her bible daily. Her family was very important to her and she loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star, Bethlehem Chapter. She is survived by her children, Roger Ross and his wife, Ramona, of Pittsfield, Nancy Cameron and her husband, Donald, of Newcastle, and Barbara Wollensak and her husband, John, of Amherst, Mass.; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her three brothers, George Hussey of Milo, Robert Hussey of Milo and Elwood Hussey of Dover-Foxcroft; and a son-in-law, Frank Gould of Turner. She was predeceased by her husband, Stuart G. Ross, in 1993; two sons, David Ross and Irving Ross; a daughter, Violet Gould; four brothers, Irving, Arnold, Clyde and Otis Hussey; and a sister, Addie Ladd. A receiving of friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 24, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, with the Rev. Albert Thibault officiating. Interment will be private at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo.
