EDDINGTON and JONESBORO – Mitch Geel, 52, died unexpectedly April 18, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 13, 1958, in Jonesport, the son of Royce E. and Charlotte M. (Look) Geel. Mitch was best known as a singer, guitar player and song-writer. He began singing at a very early age, winning first place on Channel 2’s “Spotlight On Youth” when he was 5 years old. He taught himself to play the guitar, joined dance bands from Canada down through many U.S. states making CD’s and personal appearances. His loves, in addition to music, were fishing and hunting. His special loves were his wife, Emmy; and two daughters, Brooke and Ayla. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Emmy; two daughters, Brooke and Ayla; a stepson, Jeff Clark; three brothers, Kerry and his wife, Valorie, Royce II and his wife, Heather, and Darron and his partner, Joe; and two nieces, Jaime and Nicole. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
