BRUNSWICK – Doris Lane Dunham, 88, of Mere Point Road, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Parkview Medical Center. She was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Wellington, the daughter of Calvin H. and Grace Pike Lane. Doris attended Harmony High School. She moved here from Wellington in 1942 and worked as a waitress at Hotel Eagle for 17 years. She later worked at Times Record, Shop ‘n Save and Holiday Inn, and prior to her retirement, she worked in food service at the Highlands, Topsham. In retirement she was a volunteer for Neighbors. She was a member of United Methodist Church and People Plus, and was a seventh degree member of Dirigo Grange and National Grange. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and her card games. Her husband, Ernest “Nate” Dunham died in 1976. She is survived by a son, Howard E. Spaulding of Tewksbury, Mass.; three grandchildren, Mark, Thomas and Michael; six great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, four great-stepgrandchildren; and three special friends, George Repp, Scarlett Emery and Terry Royer. The family expresses their appreciation for the care that Doris received by Dr. Kathleen Swartz and the nursing staff at Parkview Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick, with the Rev. Edward W. Poitras officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery.
