Southern Maine 21, St. Joseph’s 3

At Gorham, Ryan Pike hit two home runs and drove in a school record nine runs as nationally ranked Southern Maine thumped St. Joseph’s of Standish. Ian Lee contributed a solo home run for the Huskies (23-3), while Anthony Pisani and Mike Eaton each had two-run singles. Collin Henry drove in two runs. Mike Burdin hit a solo homer for St. Joseph’s (21-10) while Travis Adams added an RBI single.

SOFTBALL

U-New England sweeps Thomas

At Waterville, the University of New England took a softball doubleheader from Thomas, winning the first game 6-1 and the second 9-0. In the first game, Megan Gaedje singled in a run while Ashley DePasquale doubled in two more for the Nor’Easters. Erin Lyons had nine strikeouts in the win. Brittany Oxley had an RBI double for Thomas. In the second game, Gaedje had a pair of RBI singles while Caroline Engwer knocked in two with a single. Lauren Webb added an RBI double for the winners. Sam Robinson went the distance in taking the loss for Thomas.

MEN’S LACROSSE

Southern Maine 12, MMA 10

At Gorham, Tim Bryant scored three goals in the fourth quarter as the University of Southern Maine rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat Maine Maritime Academy. Kayle Hamilton netted four goals while Preston Gilbert added two. James Suriyodorn stopped nine shots for the 7-5 Huskies. Christopher Keiley scored four goals for Maine Maritime while Garrett Lake chipped in with three. Daniel Redmond made 25 saves for the 6-3 Mariners.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

UM-Farmington 15, Thomas 3

At Waterville, Amie Daniels netted four goals to lead the University of Maine-Farmington by Thomas College. Ashley Wentworth scored three goals while Devon Daigle added two. Andrea Knox made four saves for the Beavers. Megan Denby scored two goals while Kristalynn Kidd chipped in with one. Nicole Foss stopped eight shots for the 1-8 Terriers.
