FORT FAIRFIELD – Clarence L. St. Peter, 73, husband of Ann Marie (Tardif) St. Peter, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at a Van Buren nursing facility, after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Guerrette, the son of Ligorie and Selma (Rossignol) St. Peter. He was educated in Guerrette schools and was married to Ann Marie Tardif, May 15, 1960. Clarence had been employed as a bus driver and custodian for SAD 20, Fort Fairfield, for 32 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, fiddleheading and woodcutting. He will be remembered by his family as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and was also a dedicated caregiver to his beloved dog, Abby. In addition to his parents, Mr. St. Peter was predeceased by three sisters, Bernice Strid, Phyllis Graham and Priscilla Saucier. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann Marie of Fort Fairfield; two sons, Timmy St. Peter of Limestone and Teddy St. Peter and his wife, Rosemarie, of Corcoran, Minn.; two daughters, Theresa St. Peter of Limestone and Tammy Carlson and husband, Brian, of Canaan; four brothers, Gerald St. Peter and his wife, Gertrude, of Caribou, Hermon St. Peter and his wife, Evelyn, of Florida, Philip St. Peter of Crawford and Bernard St. Peter of Lewiston; four sisters, Doris Martin and Madeline Guerrette, both of Caribou, Greta Carson of Crawford and Deloris Faye of Bangor; six grandchildren, Robby and Michael Fitzsimmons, both of Limestone, Sylvia Kennedy of Clinton, Lacey Jo DeWitt, Cassandra and Lance St. Peter, all of Fort Fairfield; six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special daughter-in-law, Alaska J. DeWitt of Fort Fairfield; and a special son-in-law, Robert D. Fitzsimmons of Limestone. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, at St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with Clarence’s nephew and godson, the Rev. Kevin Martin, celebrant. Private interment will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, after the funeral Mass. A time of continued fellowship will be held at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the funeral Mass. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. St. Peter to his family to be used in accordance to their wishes.
