BREWER – Catherine M. “Kay” Collins, 83, wife of the late Leon “Jim” Collins, passed away April 16, 2009, at a Bangor nursing center. She was born Oct. 30, 1925, in Bangor, the daughter of Charles P. and Rebecca (Freeman) Trenholm. Kay, as she was affectionately known, was a graduate of Bangor High School, was a dedicated homemaker and was married for 62 years. Surviving are her daughter, who loved her very much, Mary Vanidestine and her husband, Edward Jr., of Holden; two grandchildren, Christy Stroup and her husband, Shawn, and Edward Vanidestine III and his wife, Tina, all of Brewer; five great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Samuel and Abby Stroup, Grady “James” and Lauren Vanidestine, all of Brewer; two sisters-in-law, Julia Gilmore of Brewer and Gwen Trenholm of Hermon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Kay was predeceased by her parents, her husband; and a brother, Bruce Trenholm. Family and friends may visit 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where a memorial service honoring her life will be held 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson presiding. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship immediately afterward.
