MILLINOCKET – Evelyn M. Blanchette, 90, of Stearns Assisted Living, went to be with her Lord and Savior April 16, 2009, at Millinocket Regional Hospital. She was a lifelong care giver, working for the Oscar Nickerson family in Millinocket and Winterport, and later at St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor, in the dietary department. She was always active in her church, first at St. Gabriel’s, Winterport, from 1946 until 1992, and then upon her retirement at Christ the Divine Mercy, Millinocket. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella, Infant of Prague Circle No. 742 until 1992, when she transferred to Little Flower Circle No. 392, Millinocket. Evelyn is survived by a sister, Evangeline Bissonnette and her husband, George, of Portland; and many grateful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Leandre and Emilie (Labrie) Blanchette; her brothers, Phedyme, Didime and Joyime Blanchette; and sisters, Cecile LaPlante and Weillanna Baron. Friends are invited to visit with the family 4-7 p.m. Friday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where the Daughters of Isabella will conduct a prayer service 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Spring interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Evelyn may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
