Police ID inmate who collapsed, died

PARIS, Maine — State police have identified the inmate who died after collapsing at Oxford County Jail in Paris. He’s 35-year-old Steven Perrault of Mexico, who was being held on four outstanding warrants from last year.

Sheriff Wayne Gallant said an ambulance crew tried to resuscitate Perrault before taking him to a Norway hospital, where he was pronounced dead Wednesday.

An autopsy was conducted Thursday at the state medical examiner’s office, which said further tests were needed to determine the cause of death.
