Maine man injured after car crashes into moose

LEBANON, Maine — A 47-year-old Lebanon man had to be extricated from his car after striking a moose on a rural road in his hometown.

Maine State Police say the man’s car slammed into a 600-pound bull moose on Milton Mills Road just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. A trooper told WGME-TV that the car then crashed into another vehicle that had stopped for the moose.

Officials say the man was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but that the moose died as a result of the crash. The driver of the second car, who was not in his vehicle at the time of the crash, was not hurt.
