Hudson man dies in Charleston crash

CHARLESTON, Maine — A 24-year-old Hudson man died in an early morning accident Wednesday on Route 11 in Charleston, WLBZ2 reported.

Chief Deputy Troy Morton of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office told the TV station that Daniel Pray, 24, crashed his vehicle sometime after 2 a.m. When police discovered his car off the road shortly before 6 a.m., Pray already had died. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

Morton said excessive speed and alcohol were likely factors in the crash. He also said Pray was driving on a suspended license and had a significant history of multiple traffic violations.

According to previously published reports in the Bangor Daily News, Pray was charged in 2003 with operating under the influence after a police stop early one morning. His blood alcohol level at the time was twice the legal limit.

Morton said the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department would continue investigating Wednesday morning’s crash.
