BANGOR – Emma C. (Witham) Provost, 95, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 23, 1913, in Brewer, the daughter of Robert and Olive (Ramsdell) Witham. Emma graduated from Bangor High School and was employed for many years at R. B. Dunning Co., Bangor. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Philip Provost and wife, Peg, of Exeter; a granddaughter, Jenn and husband, Andy, of Arlington, Mass.; a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie of Arlington, Mass.; a brother, Robert Witham of Newburgh; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Barbara. In addition to her parents, Emma was predeceased by her husband, Philip J. Provost; and two sisters, Gladys and Olive. A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 17, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be after at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Those wishing to remember Emma in a special way may make gifts in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
