PRESQUE ISLE – Brian C. James, 22, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, from injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident. He was born Dec. 16, 1986, in Presque Isle, the son of Gerry and Carol (Herman) James. Brian was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, Class of 2005, where he had been a member of the varsity soccer team and Bantam Hockey teams. He was currently attending the University of Maine – Orono, had completed his emergency medical technician training at Eastern Maine Community College, and was a member of Maine Air National Guard, 101st Security Forces. Brian enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, in November 2005. In 2006, Brian graduated from the Security Forces Apprentice course at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, as a distinguished graduate with a grade point average of 93%. In 2007, he attained the five-skill level as a security forces journeyman. He received several awards for marksmanship and received the Maine State Academic Achievement Award. Brian spent many happy days, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, kayaking on Cold Stream Pond, and spending time at Uncle Dave’s camp in T8R8. He was especially proud of the camp on Cary Pond that he helped his dad and his brother build. Brian had a unique sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh, even if it meant wearing something unusual to get that special rise out of someone. He loved spending time with his family and friends. A meal at his favorite “Auntie Gayle’s” or going on a concert tour with his cousins and friends suited him just fine. Brian loved all kinds of music, just as he loved all aspects of life. In addition to his parents of Presque Isle, he is survived by his brother, Mike T. James of Presque Isle; his maternal grandmother, Betty Herman of Cashion, Okla.; his paternal grandmother, Phyllis James of Presque Isle; a special cousin, Brad Johnston of Hampden; several aunts, uncles and cousins located here, Oklahoma, Kansas, North Carolina and Virginia; and a special friend, Megan.
