ALTON – Joanne Burnham, 71, wife of Roger Burnham, passed away April 13, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. She was born May 11, 1937, in Monticello, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Wasson) Nelson. Her greatest enjoyments in life were yard sales, flea markets, crafts, cooking and canning. She also loved her cottage on Prince Edward Island. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Dixie Trench and her husband, Rick, Lori Marchetti and her husband, Bill, and Julie Burnham and her fianc?, Mike Gray; three grandchildren, Stefanie Trench, Eric Trench and Ashley Marchetti; and her great-grandson, Landon Preston. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Dawn Morse and her husband, Elmer, Avis Burnham, and Jane Babin; many nieces and nephews. The family gives special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice and the CancerCare of Maine for all the care and compassion they showed to Joanne and her family. Family and friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Garnett Chute officiating.
