DOVER-FOXCROFT – Thomas J. Turner, 89, husband of Nora (Emerson) Turner, died April 8, 2009, at a local hospital, after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Arthur and Gladys (Chase) Turner. Tom attended Dover-Foxcroft schools and worked for many years for A.W. Gilman & Co., then later for Moosehead Manufacturing until his retirement at 78. He was well known in the local community at coffee shops such as Kitchen’s, Nancy’s Bakery, Colette’s Colonial Restaurant and the Dover-Foxcroft McDonald’s. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nora Turner of Dover-Foxcroft; two daughters, Sherryl Martino and her husband, Anthony, of Plymouth, Mass., and Thomasine Copeland and her husband, Ronald, of Halifax, Mass.; a son, Jeffrey A. Turner and his mate, Leslie H. Neville, both of Dexter; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service for family and friends at a later date in the family lot at Gray Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.
