SINCLAIR and OWOSSO, Mich. – Mildred L. Rodgers, 83, wife of the late Maynard L. Rodgers, passed away Wednesday morning, April 8, 2009, at a Caribou health care facility, after a brief illness. She was born July 15, 1925, in Owosso, Mich., daughter of Paul V. and Winnie (Blanchard) Eckerle. She was a graduate of Owosso (Mich.) High School and was married to Maynard L. Rodgers, July 3, 1946. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rodgers was predeceased by her husband, Maynard, March 12, 2004; and one son, Bruce Maynard Rodgers. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Linda Rodgers of Sinclair; one daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Steven Gurk of Pierson, Mich.; four grandchildren, Angela Legasse of Caribou, Shawn Gurk and his wife, Rebecca, of Hudsonville, Mich., Sheryl Bates and her husband, Jeff, of Howard City, Mich., and Kristianna Rodgers of Sinclair; four great-grandchildren, Keegan Bates of Howard City, Mich., Adrianna, Eliza and Jacob Gurk, all of Hudsonville, Mich.; several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Mildred’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. Interment will take place at a later date in Detour Village, Mich. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Rodgers to the Maine Veterans’ Home, 163 Van Buren Road, Caribou, ME 04736. Arrangements have been entrusted to Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield.
