BANGOR – Ruth E. Jenness, 91, wife of the late Austin Jenness, died April 6, 2009, at a local health care facility. She was born Aug. 4, 1917, in Kenduskeag, the daughter of Leroy and Addie (Phillips) Goss. Ruth was a member of Order of the Eastern Star; Good Samaritan, No. 38, Kenduskeag; Kenduskeag Union Church; and Levant and Glenburn Senior Citizens clubs. She spent many years as a mother and wife on their farm. She worked as a cook at Ross Home and spent many enjoyable years in retirement and enjoyed traveling. Ruth is survived by her son, Mark Jenness of Frederick, Md.; her daughter and husband, Linda and Spencer Greatorex of Winslow; her brother and wife, Ralph and Phyllis Goss of Glenburn; four grandchildren, Scott and Amy, Daniel and Theresa, Todd and Renee, and Robert Sr. and Brenda; 12 great-grandchildren, Emily, Michael, Evan, Patrick, Alex, Nicholas, Brooke, Robert Jr., Mariah, Breal, Chad and Jake; and one great-great-grandchild, Keegan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Owen and Leon Goss. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a service of remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, with the Rev. David Bean officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
