PENOBSCOT – Robert Grindle, husband of Jeanette Grindle, died Monday, April 6, 2009, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 27, 1932, in Penobscot, the son of Frank and Aurilla (Robertson) Grindle. Robert enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing and quietly helping out the community. He worked at the Bucksport paper mill for 34 years. He served loyally in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife; sons, Eugene of Penobscot, Andrew and wife, Brenda, of Orland, Timothy and wife, Connie, of Bucksport, and Theodore and wife, Wanda, of Hereford, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Nicole, Erica, Elise, Tayor, Kali and Cody; great-grandchild, Jeremiah; brothers, James Grindle and wife, Jodie, and Franklin Grindle and wife, Norma; sisters, Alberta and husband, Phil Whitney and Jane Tannehill; several nieces and nephews. Per Robert’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Penobscot Fire Department, P.O. Box 20, Penobscot, ME 04476.
