ORRINGTON – Dorothy Elizabeth (Benson) Wooster, 99, died peacefully April 3, 2009. Despite being only three months away from 100, the oldest citizen of Orrington was only briefly ill. Dorothy taught school in Penobscot, Stockton Springs and Searsport. She and her late husband, Willis “Bill” E. Wooster, square danced for 50 of their 72 years together. Dot was predeceased by her dear daughter, Thera Jewett. Surviving are her two sons, Philip N. Wooster and his wife, Mary Lou, of Hemet, Calif., and Elwyn E. Wooster and his wife, Carol, of Orland; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her favorite cook, special grandson-in-law, Eugene G. Callnan of Orrington. A memorial service to celebrate her life is being planned around her birth date, July 16.
