MILO – Horace Theodore Brown Sr., 76, went home with God April 3, 2009. He was born Jan. 28, 1933, in Hopedale, Mass., the son of Ralph E. and Esther (Gibbs) Brown. Horace grew up working on a dairy farm. He served his country in the U.S. Navy mostly stationed aboard the USS Tidewater. Horace graduated from Bentley College and attended Harvard University. He loved woodworking and enjoyed tending to his garden. Horace was a loyal dedicated man who adored his family and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Helene (Samaskeawicz) Brown; children, Lori Brown of Milo, Janet Astrella and husband, Robert, of Auburn, Mass., Horace “Ted” Brown Jr. of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Michael Brown of Lynn, Mass.; siblings, Ralph H. Brown and wife, Betsy, Robert A. Brown and wife, Irene, Frances M. Bulger and husband, Francis, Esther G. McKenzie and husband, Emery, and Adelaide C. Forbes and husband, Ralph; grandchildren, Amanda Brown, Christopher Crecelius, Thomas Brown, Jacquelyn Brown, William Swain Jr. and Jennifer Astrella; fondly remembered by a cousin, Shirley Rege; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Leah Higgins of Massachusetts. A gathering will be held 4-6 p.m. April 15 at United Baptist Church, Pleasant St., Milo. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
