BANGOR – Robert D. Slamin, 62, died unexpectedly April 2, 2009. He was born April 15, 1946, in Bangor, the son of John A. and Mildred F. (Price) Slamin. Robert was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1964. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Husson College in 1968. He then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Robert became employed as a certified public accountant for the firm Cooper’s and Lybrand, Virginia, and then in 1975 he became finance vice president for Schwab and Twitty, Palm Beach, Fla. In 1983 he had moved to Bangor and opened Down East Coins and Collectibles. Surviving are two children, Brianne F. Slamin of Cranston, R.I., and Robert O. Slamin of Bangor; two sisters, Jeannette Hallet and her husband, Wally, of Bangor and Mildred J. Slamin of Virginia Beach, Va.; two nephews, Roy J. Hicks II of Virginia and Robert Magee II of Hampden; two aunts, Maryann Nevins of Florida and Linda Carr of Maine; and two uncles, Richard Price of Veazie and Lawrence Price of Georgia. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Down East Coins and Collectibles, 26 State St., Bangor.
