BANGOR – Kevin Paul Schubert, 51, died April 2, 2009, at a Bangor hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 17, 1957, in Ridgewood, N.J., son of Charles H. and Gertrude “Gerry” (Waldron) Schubert. Kevin was a 1975 graduate of Brockport High School and was an All-State Champion skier. In 1976, he began working with his brothers at Schubert Bros. Construction Co., Annapolis, Md. He later moved to Bangor to help care for his ailing mother-in-law, Lillian Shaboski, where he lived for the past 10 years. Kevin was an avid outdoorsman; he especially enjoyed boating and he was a very kind, compassionate, caring man who loved all kinds of animals. In addition to his mother of Spencerport, N.Y., Kevin is survived by the love of his life, Brenda Jean Shaboski of Bangor; two sisters, Kim Schubert and Karen Caruso; two brothers, Kurt and Kenny Schubert; several nieces and nephews; his father-in-law, Francis Shaboski; brothers-in-law, Brian and Billy Shaboski; special aunts and an uncle, James and Dottie Shaboski, Sophie Wood and Amelia Shaboski. He will be remembered by best friends, Julie Sites, Larry Sites and Kirt Clifford. Family and friends may visit 3-5 p.m. Monday, April 6, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a service in honor and celebration of his life will be held 5 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
