WISCASSET – Janet Rowena Everett, 95, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at Cove’s Edge Nursing Center. She was born Jan. 21, 1914, in Springfield, New Brunswick, daughter of Lawrence and Ada Crouse Hersey. She attended local schools and on April 28, 1937, she married Story Everett of Washburn. Mrs. Everett worked at Necco Confectionary Co., Cambridge, Mass., and at Everett’s Market, South Gardiner, which she and her husband owned and operated. She lived in West Roxbury, Mass., South Gardiner and Gardiner prior to moving to Wiscasset in 1982. She had served as a member of the Women’s Board of Gardiner General Hospital. She enjoyed tatting and made beautiful doilies. She was an active member of Bible Baptist Church, Wiscasset, for many years. Previously, she had been a member of South Gardiner Baptist Church and West Gardiner Baptist Church. She was a dedicated Christian and faithfully served her Lord. She was predeceased by her husband, who died Feb. 1, 2002; an infant daughter, Mavis Colleen Everett; a grandson, Christopher Everett; four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include a son, Stetson Everett and his wife, Marjorie, of Hancock; a daughter, Crystal Jones and her husband, Mickey, of Wiscasset; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 6, at Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal St., Wiscasset. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Bible Baptist Church, 143 Beechnut Hill Road, Wiscasset. A gathering of family and friends will be afterward at the church.
