At Bangor, Ben Shwartz pitched 8¤ innings allowing one run on six hits to propel Bates College by the University of Maine-Farmington.

Pat Murphy, Gordy Webb and Mike Ciummei posted two hits apiece for the Bobcats.

Josh Garneau registered two hits to pace the Beavers.

St. Joseph’s 8, Husson 4

At Windham, Pat Moran hit a three-run homer and also singled and his former Hampden Academy teammate, Ian Lee, drove in two runs with a double and a single as St. Joseph’s topped visiting Husson University of Bangor.

Kevin Chamberlain picked up the win with seven and a third innings of six-hit, two-run ball.

Wade Oliver, Chris Campbell and Daniel Achorn also had two hits apiece in the Monks’ 13-hit attack. Oliver and Campbell each had a double.

St. Joseph’s built an 8-0 lead before Husson rallied for four runs in the eighth, three of them coming on a Nick Arthers’ third homer of the season.

Matt Archetti had a double for Husson.

UMPI sweeps Maine Maritime

At Castine, Emily Moore pitched six innings giving up just two hits and striking out six as the University of Maine-Presque Isle shut out Maine Maritime Academy 10-0 in the second game of a Wednesday doubleheader.

The Owls topped the Mariners in the first game 9-2.

In the first game, Cassie Green and Moore posted two hits apiece to lead UMPI.

Kayla Higgins paced Maine Maritime with three hits including a home run and two RBIs. Megan Russell added a pair of hits.

In the second game, Danielle Humphrey, Brittany Humphrey and Moore each had one hit and two RBIs for the 3-0 Owls.

Russell tallied the only two hits for the 0-7 Mariners.

Women’s lacrosse

Saint Joseph’s 19, Husson 17

At Portland, Alyssa Marchant scored seven goals as the Monks of Standish rallied in the second half to top the Eagles of Bangor.

Lauren Hagerman added four goals and three assists for 3-2 St. Joe’s, Vanessa Brooks had two goals and two assists, Lizzie Farley and Jaimee Brett had two goals each and Lilly Rodden and Megan Cutter had one each. Goalie Taylor Allison made 14 saves on 31 shots.

Shelby Bradford powered the 0-3 Eagles with four goals and two assists, Caitlin Ramsey scored three times, Caitlyn Butterfield and Kaylee Godan twice each and Rebecca Hatin and Jami Ladd with one each. Nikki Burns made four saves on 23 shots.
