ORONO – Owen “Manny” Lugdon, 69, died peacefully March 31, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at his residence after a long illness. He was born Jan. 14, 1940, in Milford, a son of Bertis Sr. and Laura Pearl (Vowels) Lugdon. He attended Milford schools and graduated from Old Town High in 1959 and then EMVTI as an electrician. He was a longtime member of Local Union No. 1253, IBEW of Augusta. He also worked for Old Town Water District for many years in addition to Smarts Auto Body, Old Town. Manny was a lifelong NASCAR fan. He enjoyed life and loved to sit at a campfire at his camper with friends and family. He also enjoyed playing Beano. He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Lyon) Lugdon; sons, Christopher Lugdon and wife, Michele, of Stetson, Leon Farrar Jr. of Brownville Junction, Lawrence Farrar of Hartford, Conn., Leslie Farrar and wife, Sandy, of Norridgewock, Lance Farrar and wife, Mary, of Milford and Richard Farrar and wife, Lisa, of Old Town; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Bertis Lugdon Jr. and Durwood Pelky. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday. Spring interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Immediately after the service, all are invited to the VFW Post, Water Street, Old Town, for a time of fellowship and light luncheon.
