COOPER and PARRISH, Fla. – Carleton Ralph Hatton passed away peacefully March 15, 2009, in Bradenton, Fla., with his family by his side. Carleton was born April 25, 1931, in Charlotte, son of the late Ralph Hatton and Leta (Flood) Hatton. Carleton attended Charlotte grade school and graduated from Calais High School. On Sept. 3, 1950, he married Elizabeth Stone, with whom he was married for 58 years. Carleton had many enjoyments in life, gardening, fishing, hunting, walking and being outdoors, but his true love was his family; he loved every minute spent with them. Carleton was a member of Cathance Grange No. 510 and worked at Georgia Pacific, Baileyville, where he retired after 25 years of service. Carleton spent winters relaxing with Elizabeth in Parrish, Fla., where their second home has been for the past 16 years. In addition to his parents, Carleton was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Everett and Malcolm Hatton. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Hatton; a daughter, Brenda Robb and her husband, Danny, of Calais; a granddaughter, Jennifer Fleming and her husband, Corey, of Calais; great-grandson, Maxwell Fleming; several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 1-2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, with a memorial service afterward with Ernest James officiating.
