Coast Guard suspends search for fisherman

LUBEC, Maine — The Coast Guard has suspended its search off the coast of far eastern Maine for a Lubec fishermen who went missing after the sinking of a 34-foot boat.

Another fishing boat crew recovered the body of 53-year-old Loren Lank of Lubec on Wednesday but searchers were unable to locate the other crew member, 19-year-old Logan Preston.

The two men were dragging for urchins when something went wrong. The Coast Guard received a report Wednesday afternoon of debris, including a survival suit, in the water.

A Coast Guard spokeswoman says a decision was made to suspend the search at 11:05 a.m. Friday. The Maine Marine Patrol will likely continue searching until sunset.
